Zainab Ahmed, chief executive of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), will be the guest speaker at the August 2014 edition of The Lagos Oil Club Q+A Session. The event holds Monday, 25th August 2014 at Lagos Oriental Hotel.
“Mrs. Ahmed will be speaking on ‘Audits of Nigerian Oil Industry: Matters Arising’”, according to Humphrey Onyeukwu, the club’s president.
The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has conducted and completed four cycles of audits of the Nigerian oil & gas sector, which reviewed and reconciled revenues collected by Govt. Agencies on behalf of the Federation and payments made by all the oil and gas companies operating in Nigeria. “Each of these Audit Reports by NEITI made profound revelations and also identified several process and governance lapses in the sector as well as provided recommendations on how to fix the problems in the sector”, Onyeukwu explains.
“Mrs. Ahmed will be sharing useful insights at The Lagos Oil Club Q+A Session on the audit process and matters arising from the exercise.”
Over the course of the last three years, The Lagos Oil Club has featured distinguished Nigerian petroleum industry personalities making presentation on contemporary energy issues. These sessions connect corporate and state players and facilitate critical industry interests by providing unique networking forums. The last guest was Austin Avuru, Managing Director of Seplat Petroleum Development Company, the country’s largest E&P independent.
