A long queue of international companies are bidding to supply natural gas to Egypt, itself a former gas exporter.
Khaled Abdel Badiee, chairman of the state gas company EGAS, counts up to 12 international companies who have “submitted offers for liquefied natural gas shipments till the end of 2016”.
Mr. Badee says he is surprised by the number of suppliers and attributes the development i to Egypt’s increasingly “ stabilizing politics and security”. Bidders include companies that are showing up in the Egyptian the market for the first time.
Bid evaluation results are expected later in August 2015.
