French major TOTAL sys that the arrival of a Floating Production Unit in the Atlantic waters offshore Congo Brazzaville is “imminent”.
The European giant is looking forward to start up production in Moho Nord in the first quarter of 2017.
The project will deliver 100,000BOPD at peak.
“Development drilling started October 2016”, says Guy Maurice, TOTAL’s Vice President E&P Africa. The Tension Leg Platform (TLP) is already on location.
TOTAL is 53% operator of Moho Nord and is a major player in sub-Saharan Africa’s fourth largest producer, which delivered an average of 250,000BOPD In 2015.
Its other recent projects are in the country are the 400,000BOPD Moho Phase 1B expansion, which the company delivered at the end of 2015. TOTAL also has position in the deep offshore Moho Bilondo field, producing since 2007.
With Moho Nord, Congo Brazzaville hopes to overtake Equatorial Guinea as Africa’s third largest oil producer. Equatorial Guinea averaged 276,000BOPD in 2015, just slightly ahead of Congo Brazzaville. Both Gulf of Guinea countries are currently running aggressive bid rounds, offering lower taxes and royalties, to capture investment inflow.
